The original RescueGirl, Amy Luwis, launched her company in 2004 to inspirit and applaud women. RescueGirl focuses its energy on creating useful, positive products and works with companies that care about making this world a better place. Her award winning gift line is sold online, and through upscale stores including Whole Foods Market.
Amy's groundbreaking "Yoga to the Rescue: Remedies for Real Girls" will be released in book form this Fall through Sterling Publishing Co. (one of the world's leading publishers of nonfiction titles). Sterling Publishing is a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc.
When Amy isn't conjuring up quirky stories and pictures she's helping animals. In 1995 she co-founded the successful nonprofit, 1-800-Save-a-Pet.com, North America's largest pet adoption web service, which has attracted Alicia Silverstone onto its billboards and Drew Barrymore into its television PSAs. It boasts 500,000 unique visitors a month and over 2700 shelters actively list their animals. Amy also contributes her hard earned dollars and imaginative drawings to tirelessly dedicated organizations like PETA.
Ms. Luwis lives and works in Arlington, Virginia in an historic neighborhood that seems to have more dogs and cats than humans. She and her boyfriend, guitarist Bryan Lewis Aspey, proudly contribute to this ratio one lovely rescue dog from Mexico and Bryan's beloved cat, Dorian.
Please seriously consider saving a life and adopting from a shelter or rescue group. Millions of dogs and cats are euthanized every year because they do not find a home.
